The Project
For this project, I chose to focus on sea turtles, as they are one of my favorite animals. This project aims to make people aware that sea turtles are an endangered species and what they can do to help save them. My two favorite things about this project were learning more facts about sea turtles, and exploring my skills in illustration to make many of the visuals of this site.
Problem
A lot of people know about sea turtles but, some may not know that they are an endangered species. The problem is people don’t know what they can do to help protect the sea turtles and how they can donate to the cause
Solution
The goal of this website is to be able to inform people about the seven types of sea turtles, the threats that sea turtles have, and all the things you can do to help save the sea turtles.
The Process
Research
The first part of this project was to research sea turtles. The things that I wanted to know about sea turtles were where they live, what they eat, and how they reproduce. I started by researching those simple questions. The next thing I researched was my client. I chose a client. The next thing I researched was my client, the World Wildlife Fund for Nature.
Wireframes
During the wireframe stage, I tried out a few different layouts until I found the one that was going to fit best for the content that I needed to include in my design. During this phase, I figured out that a horizontal scroll would be best to show and explain the different types of sea turtles.
Moodboard
Design
During this phase, I explored the use of color and photography as well as the use of color and illustration throughout the design. In the design, I used an illustration for the background to make it look like a watercolor and then I also created and sea turtle illustration in that same kind of style and made all my other elements match.
